Hi,

I think probelm is path related. Did you create “backup” directory in your main “blog” directory ? say “/var/www/username/blog” is your main Wordpress directory, then “backup” directory should be “/var/www/username/blog/backup”.
Problem could also be permissions related. Did you give write permission to your webserver process for “backup” folder ?

I know you didn;t create this but could you help me. I am using 1.2.1 mingus and get this error wehn I try and download my backed up database \”The requested URL /backup/09122004wordpress.sql was not found on this server.\” When I try and back up the WP files I get this error- \”There was an error in backing up files!\”

Hey there!
Great script… and exactly what I need too… actually, I’d like to package it to work with my current project: wp-plugin-mgr and the WP Plugin DB…
I’m a working on the next version of the DB local client (that lets you easily install plugins straight from the developer’s website) and, among the new features available to make plugin installs more automated, there will be the ability to run SQL commands at install time.
Which is where your script comes in: it’d be very nice if I could automatically save the state of the DB before running a plugin SQL install script, so that, if things go wrong, the user can immediately go back.
The way I see it, I would just need to do some very light modifications to your plugin, so as to package it as a one-click install itself, then, whenever the user would need to install a plugin that requires SQL trickery, the client would automatically suggest installing your plugin first and, once installed, automatically call the back-up function before going further…
All in all, very little work and the added bonus that your plugin will be available as a “one-click” install in the DB for everybody to use.

The only modification I can see right now is to change the default backup folder to something inside “wp-content” (could actually be left outside, but I prefer one-click install to mess as little as possible with the root folder)… the rest is only a matter of zipping the archive the right way…

I’ll be glad to repackage it myself, unless you want to do it… just wanted to ask you first if that was ok with you…
